About me:

Sophie  Shaikh moved to Singapore from Chicago in June 1988 with her husband and five children, 3 boys and 2 girls.  All finished schooling at the Singapore American school and are now all living in the USA.  Four of them are now married and Sophie has  11 beautiful grandchildren to her name.  “I was very involved with the school PTA, volunteering with the events, ,scholarships and the curriculum committee”, Sophie remarks.  A teacher by profession, she finished her BSE and BEd at the college of Home Economics in Karachi and then went on to complete her Ami Montessori Diploma in Karachi.  Always a humanitarian, she taught at the blind, deaf and dumb school in Karachi and sat four exams for them.  “I Joined SPA in 1990 and became assistant secretary then a committee member.  I gave my full effort to SPA in pursuit of keeping the community together and keeping the Pakistan flag flying high.”  Busy with full time charity work by teaching children whom she loved, Sophie got involved with the Mohamadiyha home and Jamiyah children’s home teaching and counselling children.

 

In 1997 Sophie joined Pertapis Children’s Home for abused and neglected children, teaching and taking care of their emotional and physical needs.  “Itook the female centre under my wing and made managed to gain SPA’s support to accept Pertapis as their regular bursary, whilst doing a lot of fund raising for Singapore and Pakistan at the same time.”  Started an education fund for Pakistani students at the NUS and was very much apart of AWA which she joined in 1988 to play tennis which she loves.  Sophie became involved with teaching cooking different cuisines and also heading the Philanthropic Club for many years holding charity ball and events and channelled a lot of their funds into the needful homes.  To this day she is still bringing lots of culture, art and fashion from Pakistan to show Singaporeans and teaching different cuisines to raise funds for the educational needs of the children and back home.

About me:

Mahwish Zaidi has been living in Singapore since 2011, mother of two boys and a girl, she takes prides in trying to raise aware, active and participating citizens. Other than this huge responsibility she gives guided tours at Asian Civilizations Museum Singapore and write travelogues in Urdu for an on line magazine. She enjoys Urdu poetry and theater performances.

Lubna Nisar Sheikh holds a degree in Pharmacy and worked in the Oncology Department of Aga Khan University Hospital, Karachi before migrating to Singapore upon her marriage. She audited modules in Master of Clinical Pharmacy at the National University of Singapore. Lubna has done volunteer work with SG CARE. Which is set up by the National Volunteer & Philanthropy Centre (NVPC) to promote and grow the volunteering culture here in Singapore in 2009. In her free time she loves to bake

Azzah Atique, Founder and Director of Momentz by Azzah, is socially active  and very popular in Singapore Market. She is enthusiastic and very passionate  about Performing Arts, Creativity  and Quality Excellence.
She has more then 4 years experience in processes and  quality excellence management with global companies like  Nokia Siemens Networks, PT Siemens Indonesia and Digital Processing Systems.
Because of her great passion and love for Music and Performing Arts,  she started her own company in 2013, to promote the famous, as well as budding artists on international platforms. As an honorary committee member of Singapore Pakistani Association since 2015, she also supports various community
Projects and  events.
Azzah has an Honours degree in Computer Science with minors in Management and Marketing, and a Diploma in technical writing.

About me:

Sana Ashfaq is an MBA (Marketing ) from IBA and holds Bachelors degree in Computers and Information Technology. She has been a banker and currently taking care of her two sons. Sana lived in Oxford, England for about 5 years and then moved to Singapore  in 2011.

Since 2017, Sana is an  Executive Committee Member of Singapore Pakistani Association (SPA) and an active volunteer of HCA Hospice Care Singapore for last 3 years. Her passion is to serve community, do social welfare work ; other  humanitarian and philanthropist activities.

Sana consistently remained  1st or 2nd position holder right from her school period till Masters level. She had secured 2nd position in HSC examinations in the entire Board.

Sana has served as Vice Chairperson and Joint Secretary of her University’s Intellectual Forums. She has been very active in organizing Institutes’ events and hosting seminars. She has been a debater and and likes to play Badminton, Table Tennis, Bowling and Chess.

Mustafa Rasheed was born in Singapore and spent 19 years between Pakistan and USA during his formative years. He returned to Singapore to serve in the military and holds a Bachelors Degree in Business and Management Studies. Mustafa serves as a Senior Executive Advisor at the SME Centre, an iniative of the Singapore Government and is seated at the Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. In his role he is an an advisor to Startups and businesses with a revenue of up to $100 Million per annum. Mustafa is passionate about Economic Development, Innovation and Multi-cultural / Multi-religious relations.
