A second generation Pakistani in Dubai, Umair did his undergraduate studies in the US and worked extensively in the UK and the Middle East, before moving to Singapore in 2019…where he is often asked, where are you from?
Umair has always been passionate about championing causes that support underprivileged Pakistani students. He helped organise poetry and musical events with Taleem at the Pakistan High Commission in London, for The Citizens Foundation, whilst also being a founding member of CVBoosters, a not-for-profit organisation that helped British Pakistani students with career advice and development of work-enhancement skills.
He has been an advisor to Board Members of the Pakistan Education Academy, Dubai, one of the largest not for Profit, non-government affiliated Schools outside Pakistan, with an enrolment of over 2,500 students.
He spent most of his career as a Financial Services Management Consultant with Deloitte and KPMG before moving to Microsoft and subsequently joining Mastercard. An avid squash player, Umair enjoys spending time with his family and two young kids, exploring the different parks in Singapore.
As Treasurer of SPA, he is committed to working with his fellow Executive Committee Members to organise meaningful forums and events that engage and delight the different generations of Pakistanis living in Singapore, whilst strengthening the community bond.
Coming back to the question of where are you from? I am from Pakistan lah!
