SPA Present’s Pakistani Film Festival in Singapore
March 28, 2014 @ 6:00 pm - March 30, 2014 @ 12:00 pm
Event Navigation

Singapore Pakistani Association (SPA) started out as Overseas Pakistani League in 1948, carrying out activities in tune with the events in Pakistan. SPA is a non profit organisation and holds various events through out the year to promote a harmonious and cohesive community across various cultures and societies within Singapore.
Singapore Pakistani Association will be presenting the first of its kind a Pakistani Film Festival in Singapore. It will be a memorable week of quality movies which have made waves in Pakistan and Internationally.
After years of economic doldrums and creative drought, Pakistani movies are pulling in crowds at home and garnering awards at international film festivals. It’s a miraculous restart for an industry that has seen more highs and lows than a three-hour Bollywood blockbuster. Taking the power of storytelling into their own hands, Pakistani filmmakers are fashioning much needed, nuanced portraits of their country and cultivating a degree of national pride.

Zinda Bhaag (Run For Your Life)
(Urdu with English Sub Titles)
Zinda Bhaag is a 2013 Pakistani Punjabi-language drama film directed by Meenu Gaur and Farjad Nabi, and produced by Mazhar Zaidi. The film had a premiere show on September 19, 2013 and a wide release on September 20. The film was selected as the Pakistani entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 86th Academy Awards, the first in over 50 years
Film Synopsis: Zinda Bhaag is a film about three young men trying to escape the reality of their everyday lives and succeeding in ways they had least expected. In a nondescript neighborhood of Lahore, three friends are desperate to get on to the fast track to success. Khaldi, Taambi and Chitta, all in their early twenties, believe that the only way out is to the West. The journey that unfolds through the story of this film gives us a peep into what constitutes the everyday in the lives of many young men and women in Pakistan – a sense of entitlement that cannot be fulfilled, desperation to somehow prove themselves in the face of all legitimate doors being locked and an ennui from which they feel there is no getaway.
