Patterns and designs have always fascinated Saman. Growing up in Lahore provided the perfect backdrop to study, observe and admire some of the most beautifully constructed and adorned historical monuments. This interest in design led Saman to graduate with a distinction in Graphic design from the National College of Arts, Lahore. In 2018-2019, her quest to learn design in Islamic art culminated in a diploma in traditional arts from the VMCTA, Karachi, an outreach program by the Prince’s Foundation School of traditional arts, London.
Saman experiments with art on traditional ceramics in gold and practices ‘Tezhip’ (illumination with gold) paintings. She also designs exclusive traditional bridal heirlooms in Pakistan under the brand name ‘Jhalak’. Saman has worked as visiting faculty for the PSTA outreach diploma program in 2020-2021. She has taken part in several art exhibitions over the years and has been honing her art skills in Pakistan as well as in the Philippines, Saudi Arabia, and Singapore.
Saman Ansari’s volunteering experience lies in social change initiatives; education, livelihood projects for persons with disabilities, and volunteer matching. She has conducted art classes for children with disabilities in Pakistan, Philippines, and Saudi Arabia. Over the last two decades, Saman has also been on the board of several charitable organizations and has been a founding member of social change initiatives in Pakistan. She is keen to volunteer her time to similar worthy causes in Singapore.
