Spa coffee morning – health awareness talk – keeping abreast and youthful
SPA in collaberation with Medi-Connect and Raffles Hospital planned a special event on Healthcare for Women. High Commissioner and The First Lady graciously hosted the event at their residence.
Dr Felicia Tan, specialist from Raffles hospital gave presentation on Breast Cancer, risks and treatments available.
Dr Tan Kian Teo Specialist in Dermatology gave a presentation on Keeping Skin Youthful and Rejuvanated.
The whole event was informative, very well received by the women in the community, young and old. Women who had gone through various cancer treatments shared their experiences with the audience.
Goody Bags by the hospital were given to all the 80 ladies that attended the event.

Discourse – a conversation with mishal husain
This year, SPA provided platforms for constant discourse and discussion. On 29 April 2012, SPA invited British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) presenter, Mishal Husain, to an informal discussion session. Speaking to a group of approximately 40 people, Mishal presented on her coverage of the uprisings in the Arab world. She had discussions with members of the audience on subjects like the Islamic world, journalism as a career and her personal journey as a Muslim woman in the West. Personal contributions of donations were made towards the cause of free medical services in Pakistan.

Celebrating the rhythms & colors of the indus – charity fashion show
In 2012, Singapore Pakistani Association raised and donated close to $300,000 to Indus Hospital in Karachi, Pakistan, and $70,000 to Singapore Muslim Women’s Association. These funds were raised through a multi-faceted event organized by SPA in May 2012, Rhythms and Colours of the Indus, at Ritz-Carlton. The event was a gala dinner that included a fashion show, an auction and a concert. The fashion show featured collections of Pakistani designers Faiza Samee, Nurjehan Bilgrami and Amin Gulgee. The auction included Pashmina shawls, carpets and jewellery, followed by a concert by Pakistani artistes, Zeb & Haniya.

Spa inter-community iftar
SPA invited special guests from several local organizations to this Inter Community Iftar. In this way, not only did the Iftar allow SPA members a chance to share the joy and blessings of Ramadan with each other, but also a platform on which we can interact and build close ties with other local communities.
